Edgar Wright's Ant-Man Will Stand Out

The movie many fans have been waiting their entire lives to see, Edgar Wright's Ant-Man.  As we have watched The Avengers evolve together in a single film, there are a few characters that we can say have been missing from the mix.

Recently Edgar Wright told Entertainment Tonight how what he wants to do with the film and how he wants to surprise the audience.

"I want to make him into a badass [laughs].  No, I always like that comic and I always thought it would be an interesting thing to see in live-action.  That's why I [showed] that Comic-Con test that we did for Marvel, to show this fight scene like a proof of content, like this is what the action is going to be like.  I think a lot of people who maybe don't know the character sort of see that test and go, "Oh, right, I get it.  It's like an action film," so that's the idea.  I think people will be surprised by what kind of movie it is, and so in that respect it's something that I know is going to stand out because it's got a very different story and is a very different movie."

When asked about the tone of the film, whether if it'll have humor with action or straightforward, Wright says:

"Well, I think the Marvel movies are funny, you know? I think generally the Iron Man films and The Avengers is funny.  They're not ever in the comedy section, but they are funny and entertaining, so I think it'll be something in a similar vein to that."

With the Marvel adaptation already due to release four months sooner than it's initial release date, it won't be too far from the Avenger's sequel.

Although we know very little of the film, here's a little information about the Marvel Character:

Dr. Henry "Hank" Pym is a fictional character that appears in publications by Marvel Comics. Created by editor and plotter Stan Lee, scripter Larry Lieber and Penciler Jack Kirby, the character first appeared in Tales to Astonish #27 (Jan. 1962).  Pym's character, a scientist that debuted in a standalone science-fiction anthology story, returned several issues later as the superhero Ant-Man, with the power to shrink to the size of an insect.  Pym is eventually given a crime-fighting partner, Janet Van Dyne (Wasp) and goes on to assume other superhero identities, including the size-changing Giant-Man and Goliath; the insect-themed Yellowjacket; and briefly the Wasp.

Debuting in the Silver Age of Comic Books, the character of Henry Pym has featured in other Marvel-endorsed products such as animated films; arcade and video games; television series and merchandise such as action figures and trading cards. Henry Pym is a founding member of the superhero team the Avengers.
