In recent news, according to THR "MGM has hired Gran Torino screenwriter Nick Schenk to work on the screenplay for RoboCop." With Jose Padilha attached as director, this would be a good combination, being that the two have worked together before on Elite Squad: The Enemy Within, on the action thriller Tri-Border.
In recent news there was a rumor that Russell Crowe might be in the 'RoboCop' reboot, but Crowe shot down the rumor that he is "involved" with the RoboCop reboot (via Twitter)
Also in a recent article by SR: "Michael Fassbender’s name has been most commonly linked to the RoboCop reboot up to now, due to both Padilha’s own comments about the X-Men: First Class star – and the actor’s own admission that he’s open to the idea of portraying the lethal cyborg, so long as the script is up to scratch. However, Fassbender doesn’t look to be available to star in the film, which MGM wants to begin production on this summer."
For now that is all the news we have on the 'RoboCop' reboot, but still, I personally think Michael Fassbender is a better choice for 'RoboCop' reboot. Only because Padilha previously mentioned that his version will focus more on how leading character Alex Murphy is affected by the process when he transforms in his being a half-man, half-machine. Now this is just my personal opinion, as I try to visualize 'RoboCop', Fassbender would better fit the part, not saying Crowe is bad at all, I just cannot picture Crowe's face under that helmet and take him seriously. I am anticipating an update now on how this will start coming together. Will keep you updated from here as more news comes in.
