'Tomb Raider' Movie Reboot

In a recent article on Variety there have been reports of GK films to be working closely with gaming developer Crystal Dynamics to put together the upcoming Tomb Raider movie. Here's what Darrell Gallagher, head of Crystal Dynamics says:
“They are working from this new take that we’ve given them… It was important for both of us to have a cohesive version of the franchise… We didn’t want to see a film version that was a continuation of the old Tomb Raider films.”
It is implied that the upcoming Tomb Raider will draw the storyline directly from the source material. The franchise reboot will probably stick to the intense origin story of the game. Lara Croft as a young 21 year old fresh out of the University and "her ascent from a young woman to a hardened survivor. Armed only with raw instincts and the ability to push beyond the limits of human endurance, Lara must fight to unravel the dark history of a forgotten island to escape its relentless hold"

According to Noah Hughes, creative director at Crystal Dynamics. To remake “Tomb Raider,” nailing Croft was necessary, “Looking at Lara as a character, she was still going to be an intellectual heroine, a brilliant archaeologist, but more athletic, more competent in traversal and puzzle-solving and combat,” he said.
We may end up watching a rebooted Tomb Raider movie, with a storyline taken directly from the rebooted video game.  In a way it does make sense that GK Films is in heavy collaboration with the game developers for the upcoming film.

Although it's still a long way from being real, make sure to keep your eyes on the lookout for the latest news on the Tomb Raider reboot.
