John Carter (of Mars) 2nd Trailer | More Mars Footage!

John Carter (of Mars) is based on Edgar Rice Burroughs' classic sci-fi adventures, telling of war-weary, former military captain John Carter (Kitsch), who is inexplicably transported to Mars where he becomes part of a conflict  between various nations of epic proportions amongst the inhabitants of the planet, including Tars Tarkas (Dafoe) and Princess Dejah Thoris (Collins). Carter rediscovers his humanity when he realizes that the survival of Barsoom (Mars) and its people rests in his hands, so he takes it upon himself to save Barsoom and it's people.

Here is the second trailer released for the film, check it out below.  It looks amazing! despite the mixed reaction to the latest trailer. Did you know John Carter (of Mars) probably holds the record for having the longest period of "development hell" for any movie, at 79 years!!! I'm in! I love this kind of stuff, hard sci-fi with tall green martians on a planet with some awesome landscapes! You have to admit this looks amazing!

The film entered development when preproduction first started for it in 1931, when Robert Clampett (director of 'Looney Tunes') approached Edgar Rice Burroughs, the author of 'John Carter', to make an animated feature out of the first book in the series (which is what this film is also an adaptation of). Had plans gone through, 'John Carter' would have become the first animated feature the world had seen, beating Disney's Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. The film finally left development in 2010 when filming officially started in January of that year in London.

John Carter is directed by Pixar alum Andrew Stanton (Finding Nemo, Wall-E) from a screenplay by Mark Andrews, Michael Chabon & Stanton. Disney is bringing John Carter to theaters in 3D everywhere starting March 9th, 2012 this spring.
