Need for Speed Movie in the Works

That's right, Need for Speed movie is in the works.  Yesterday news came out that DreamWorks has acquired the movie rights to the franchise with EA to produce it with John Gatins and Mark Sourian. Director Scott Waugh (Act of Valor) is attached to direct the film, for a 2014 release.

"I'm excited about getting back into the creative trenches with John and George Gatins and my partners at EA to bring to life an exhilarating script based on an epic video game that seems to have been made for the movies," said Steven Spielberg, DreamWorks Chairman. "This is a big piece of business for DreamWorks and we are grateful to Frank Gibeau, Pat O'Brien, Kevin Maher and John and George for choosing us to deliver their goods."

The film  is planned as a "fast-paced, high-octane film honoring the tradition of the awesome super fast car culture films of the 70s while being extremely faithful to the spirit of the video game franchise.

Now for the outcome of this movie, who knows, but we all know that almost every movie made from a video game is always terrible.  With that being said, it involved fast cars, I am curious on the outcome on this film. I have played every Need for Speed game ever made, I mean who doesn't like fast cars? Just saying. But with Scott Waugh to direct it, this might actually have some potential.  Act of Valor is on my favorites list, with all the action packed scenes, it was intense.  So we'll just have to wait and see how this all turns out.

Release Date:  2014
